They're not too hard, often the answers are within the clue but some general or local knowledge is needed - e.g. - number 20 is lettuce as cos is a type of lettuce, the peak district river is Ashop - in atlas hopefully means the word is in there across the two words - so the end of atlas + the beginning of hopefully. The flowering current clue leads to the answer ribes - damaged berries, er removed means that the word berries is the answer, but the letters rearranged and with er removed, so take out and e and an r. I like this kind of crossword, that requires a little thought and enables you to figure out answers if you're not knowledgeable in a particular area!
