Dave and I had a picnic lunch in a wildflower meadow this afternoon and before we left, I heard the distinctive call of a green woodpecker. I looked for the bird and spotted this female sitting on a rock. She flew up into the trees before I could take any better photos, but it's a better photo than the one I took a earlier in the year of a male!
