A hot and sunny day! After the city day yesterday, I need to be outdoors in more natural surroundings so visited Hartsholme and Swanholme Lakes. They're only about 3 miles outside of Lincoln but it was a lovely place. The locals I passed were friendly and all said 'good morning', there wasn't a great deal of litter and I didn't see a single dog poo in a bag hanging off a tree! I walked about 3.5miles or so here spotting courting crested grebes and all sorts of birds including a lesser spotted woodpecker.
I spent the afternoon a little further outside of the city at Whisby Nature Park, a wildlife Trust site which was also a great place - and a Nightingale hot spot too, though none have been recorded there yet this year and I didn't see/hear any! I didn't last long there due to the heat, I left after two hours with a lot of the site still unexplored. Sunburnt head season is well under way!
