Natural abstract

I have done nothing to this photo other than to crop its length a little and rotate it. It is a section of bark from a gum tree. The tree is weeping resin from a nail embedded in it, has bark which is cracking prior to falling off and has a streak caused by a water/fungal stain. Viewed on the tree it is a bit depressing but I really like the abstract it forms.
Why is there a nail in the tree

@30pics4jackiesdiamond It goes back 20 years to when the kids wanted a basketball hoop. That's long gone but the nail is still there, and the tree's still weeping. Saying this out loud makes me feel quite guilty!! Poor tree.

@joannakate Thanks Joanna. That bit changes with the light. Cheers Rob

Interesting natural textures and tones.

Lovely light and textures! The rotation worked really well to "abstract" the image. good eye

@taffy @granagringa Thank you both. I will probably keep going back to this - it's fascinating how the resin changes colour.
