Trying to learn how to use my camera with longer exposures. I fear it will always have severe limitations. I guess that's the price you pay for being able to stick it in your pocket!!
This is an excellent first attempt. The red is quite striking. One thing is to under expose a bit so that the whites aren't quite blown out. It's tricky, but you'll sort it out. Brisbane is a great city for practicing this!
@taffy The reds are very red - and, as you say the whites are overpowering. Unfortunately, when I use the long exposure setting it doesn't let me dial in an exposure bias! I might just try the P settings and try to trick it into doing the longer exposure! And practice trying to modify afterwards. I'll have a go at this on PicMonkey too. Thank you very much for taking the time to make these suggestions. I really appreciate it! Cheers Rob
Hi Kay - thanks for your comments about the night shots. It does seem amazing that the river is so red - it is lit up by both the bridge and the buildings behind me. And I think the long exposure just exaggerated it.
Thanks for the fav - much appreciated!! :)
@granagringa Too red hey!! Probably needed less than the 3 secs. The water actually is very red because the bridge and the surrounding buildings are all lit up.
@psychographer It is interesting isn't it - I always thought b&w was pretty boring but having to choose a topic for the b&w challenge was quite eye opening. It seems that the loss of the colour can improve some things - takes away that distraction. Thanks for your feedback!!
