These truly are king of the rainforest. The orchid clumps can be up to 3ft across and they can produce dozens of very large (2ft) flower fronds. They grow either on trees - especially in the rainforests where they are found at high levels - or at ground level amongst rocks and debris. They have a very nice perfume.Each flower is about 1inch across.
@taffy These are the ones that most people know - just because they are so big and obvious - anybody who looks up in a rainforest in Spring has a chance of seeing one. Pretty spectacular. Thanks for having a look. :)
