Who grows what - where.... 1

Right next door - the farmer grows small crops eg cabbages, beans etc On our side of the fence we are growing trees!
I like the contrast of light in this one

What's in your trees?

You live in such a beautiful spot! Same question as JackieR - what trees have you planted?

Your side looks much prettier Rob!

@sarahlth Thanks Sarah!

@ulla Thanks Ulrika - no trees over that side - so lots of nice sun and light! :)

@30pics4jackiesdiamond @casablanca Hi Jackie and Casablanca - we are trying to slowly revegetate paddocks etc so the trees are all local natives - mainly Eucalypts. These ones are in a wet spot so they are all Bottlebrushes of one sort or another - the little birds love them too. Thanks for your interest! Cheers Rob

@suzanne234 LOL - we agree with you totally - unfortunately the farmer doesn't! He's better at cutting trees down! :)

Revegetation is an excellent idea. My son's done a heap of that on the farm over the past 20 years or so. Lovely to see the results.

@golftragic Hi Marnie - It must be rewarding to him to see the change over 20 years - especially if this is in that wheat belt. It can make such a difference. Cheers Rob

@robz Oh yes, it's a projecect very close to his and his wife's heart. They've been working on it for years, right from harvesting seed, learning how to treat the different varieties and how best to sow the seed with minimum attention and water requirements. Apparently some seed needs fire treatment, some goes through a gem tumbler etc, etc. It's a time-consuming long-term project. The farm is in the SW Riverina, on the Edward River between Swan Hill and Moulamein, black box, Murray Pine, belah and red gum country.

@golftragic They are serious tree farmers - how wonderful that they have got so involved - seed collection and treatment is such an interesting area - the gem tumbler is a new one to me. I can see how it would be useful to some species which need to have the seed coat abraided. This sounds like a simply wonderful project, one which could be a showcase for the area. Thank you for telling me all this - it such a lovely positive story! Cheers Rob
