Leaf 1

The dams are all very low - but the water poppies are still alive and well. This us one of their leaves. They get their name from their white poppy shaped flowers.
I really like this as it stands out against the green

So intriguing -- the lighting and pattern -- it just shimmers.

Oh this is lovely...first reaction!....ok, so now, think I, why is it lovely? Ans: the placement of subject...the shape and curve of stem, the reflection (?) of said stem; the second stem...the little one on the right in the water....adds such balance. That's some of the answer anyway.....thanks for helping me see and think!

@granagringa Hi Granagringa - it's so nice to hear from you again. I love the way you can analyse what works and put it into words. In turn it makes me reflect on why I like some of my photos lots more than others. Looking at this again I can see what you are saying about the balance so I now have something to keep in mind along with the thirds idea. Thanks so much for your help. I hope everything is going well for you and yours. Cheers Rob

Hi Sarah, Ko, Taffy, Suzanne, Casablanca, Jane and Marnie. I'm sorry for this combined thank you to all of you lovely people but we have been madly busy getting ready to head off camping for a week or so. Thanks for all taking the time to check out the little water poppy surviving in the almost empty dam. Hopefully it rains before they all dry out - their white poppy flowers are just gorgeous. Cheers Rob
