My get-pushed partner Saxa asked me to do a still life image - this is way out of my comfort zone - I never really pose anything for a photo!! Anyway - these seemed as good as anything to use - they belonged to my Mum who was a map tracer and used these tools for her whole working life.
@overalvandaan Hi Saxa - finally got a chance to try a posed shot - they sure take some effort - and I didn't even have any decent background or lights etc. The people who produce those wonderful still life shots that we see here really have my admiration after trying this. Thanks for an interesting challenge! Cheers Rob
@madeinnl Hi Ko - always nice to see you back. I'm afraid this could have been better - it's probably the first one I've ever tried! Thanks so much for your encouraging Fav!
@shutterbug49 Thanks for your lovely comment Shutterbug - but I'm afraid I'm not very comfortable with these. I guess that's why this challenge is called Get-Pushed!! :)
@robz It's all a bit scary if you stand back and think about what life used to be like. Not that we have any options, mind you. When I first went to school in the 1940s I used a slate and slate pencil, then a stick pen and nib. Sometimes I feel like a dinosaur.
This came out very nicely... it's got a lovely artistic feel to it :)
we are paired for get pushed this week... how would you feel about trying some "alphabet" photography... taking photographs of existing or created objects to create a word... we did this for the Dogwood challenge last year, and i see you participated... so for an added twist, how about trying it with found objects rather than as a "set up" shot?
hopefully that will work for you... if not, let me know and i will set something else...
@northy Hi Northy - I'll give it a go! You have cleverly identified that the last time we did this I cheated and used edited letters - the found ones were really annoying because they were all so diverse! But it's meant to be a challenge!! Lol. Cheers Rob
Such a great still life. I love the processing you have used here.
So interesting that your mother was a draftsman of sorts. So was I!
You are right. This would have been awesome on one of her maps. You should haul one out and re-do this!
@farmreporter Hi Wendy - it must have brought back old memories for you when you saw all those tools! I love them for their vintage appeal too. After reading your comment I think I will get out an old map and try something with it! Thanks for your kind comment. :)
@overalvandaan Thanks so much Saxa. However, I don't think I'll do too many of these - I'd rather just always have my camera in my pocket and catch what I see...
