While in Baden Baden we went to visit the Fabergé Museum. The first thing they told us was to leave our cameras in a locker so we don’t take photos inside – a disappointment for me. Secondly, tickets weren’t cheap at all – perhaps that is why they made them in the form of paper money. Third there was no information on the items exhibited. I have to say that the exhibits were beautiful but I wasn’t completely satisfied with the display overall.
The picture shows two tickets (front & back) and part of a brochure we were given at the cash desk.
The Fabergé Museum is dedicated to items made by the Russian jewellery firm Fabergé. It was opened in 9 May 2009 by Russian art collector Alexander Ivanov. The most significant item is the Rothschild Fabergé egg (shown here).
Joke: A balding, white haired man walked into a jewellery store with a beautiful much younger gal at his side. He told the jeweller he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweller looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring. The man said, 'No, I'd like to see something more special.'
The jeweller went to his special stock and brought another ring. 'Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000' the jeweller said. The lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement.
The old man seeing this said, 'We'll take it.'
The jeweller asked how payment would be made and the man stated, 'By cheque. I know you need to make sure my cheque is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds and I'll pick up the ring Monday afternoon.'
On Monday morning, the jeweller angrily phoned the old man and said, 'There was only $25 in your account.'
'I know', said the old man, 'But let me tell you about MY GREAT WEEKEND!'
Many thanks for looking and for all the lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
I wander what I had done if I was you. Knowing me I think I won`t go in there and sure not for a second time. Thanks for the warning. Great shot of the entrance bill. ( Funny joke)
That would be terribly disappointing. There should be at least one display where they don't mind if you take pictures. When I visited Boston a few years ago it really impressed me that you could take pictures in most of the museums with no trouble. Art should be shared. But I guess they do not want people selling their pictures and making money off their displays. I'm sure there's books and things on sale in their museum shop they'd rather you buy! Nice collage though- and a very interesting ticket!
