Here starts my holiday story.
This is the New Town Hall of Munich, the city’s administration centre. It dominates Marienplatz, that has been the city's main square since 1158. This monumental, 79 meters (259 ft) high town hall was built between 1867 and 1909. It was impossible to capture the whole building from the square or to avoid the thousands of people that continuously walked through the square. Note the green balcony as you go up the building's tower.
We were on a group tour of around fifty persons, landed at Munich Airport and had some three to four hours free time in Munich city centre before proceeding on a long coach trip to our hotel in Zell Am See (Austria). This could have been a very tragic day for us all because, in the same area (I may be corrected), only the next day, was the terroristic attack which left ten people dead.
Many thanks for looking and for the comments and fav's on yesterday's picture.
Great shot- it really conveys the busy crowded tourist area as well as the history of such a magnificent building. I like the contrast between the old buildings and modern advertising!
I hope you have an enjoyable vacation trip.
Interesting Town Hall, wonderful architecture. We just need to get on with our lives and hoping the goverments will come up with a solution lol....
