I took this shot at 5.41 am on Friday of last week. No I’m not crazy for going out that early. I had to take my brother-in-law and his wife and daughter to the airport and to me, who am not an early riser, it was a great opportunity to go out and look for some sunrise shot.
I chose this location, Ta’ Xbiex (pron: ta sh-bee-sh), for my shots and I arrived there too early as it was still completely dark. In this shot, on the right are some of the Valletta fortifications, on the left is Lazzaretto, on Manoel Island. The dim light in between and close to the tip of Manoel island I think is an early riser from the yacht marina leaving port.
UEFA Under 21 Championship – Malta 1 – Latvia 0. A good win for Malta who are doing well in this football competition. I met some of the Latvian players yesterday, by chance.
World Cup – The big game for our National side today. Malta plays away to England at Wembley Stadium. God have mercy on us.

Super night lighting and shot, Dione. About to watch the match on TV! I'm not a great patriot, England have been so disappointing in comps. And then there's Brexit (we voted Remain, we believe in Europe as an entity, and now the Brexiteers are going to cost us dear when we have our independent holidays by car in Europe. Who knows where the £ will end up! 'Nuff said!) So may the best team win :) I have a very soft spot for Malta, great admiration for their WW2 role and my uncle (mother's brother I never knew, but who was fun I think - I've seen his letters - he was killed by shrapnel in the English Channel in 1940) was in the Royal Navy there at times pre-WW2.
Glad you did you explanation for you early rishing. I`m not too. I`m a early sleeper. Bed time for me 1.30 in the morning. (After a small one after dinner.) Holland id win his last matvh against White Russian. Ina watch it , she is the footbal fan in our family. Great night capture of those beautiful buildings , the nice lights and the water reflections.
