I have finally managed to sort out all the pictures I took on the one day we were in Milan as part of our trip to Italy to watch Juventus play against Roma. I had been to Milan before but many years ago so I enjoyed going around the same places I visited on the previous occasion. In the coming days I will show a few of the many photos I took there. The weather was dull and cold but no rain so I miss the colours of a beautiful sunny day.
In this collage I have tried to show the façade of this amazing cathedral (duomo is Italian for cathedral) and some of the amazing sculptures that adorn it.
The Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral) is dedicated to St Mary of the Nativity (Santa Maria Nascente) and is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan. This Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. It is the largest church in Italy after St Peter’s Basilica which is in the independent state of Vatican City. It is also the fifth largest in the world.
What an incredible structure. Your collage shares some very interesting features of the cathedral. I would image there are hundreds if not thousand more photo opportunities here.
