The strength of the wind subsided yesterday. This time I was able to take shots at leasure and the sea was still quite rough as you can see from these picture.
If I heard the news correctlyl we had winds reaching 100 knots an hour – surely a first in Malta. After Balluta I had tried to stop at Fond Għadira, about 2/3 km away to take a few shots. As soon as I got out of the car I was almost carried away by the wind, got to the shelter of a doorway and each time I tried to venture out I had to fall back to my shelter. When I finally returned to the car which was just round the corner I saw a well-built man stretched on the ground – he had been toppled by the wind. With the help of another man I helped him get to his feet - the guy looked hurt and started rubbing his head. He didn’t need my offer to give him a lift though. At that stage I returned home. On the way home, I saw a gentleman losing his balance while walking along the pavement in my direction; he almost fell in front of my car.
Thank you so much for looking and for the comments on yesterday’s picture.
It must have been so devastating and frightening - nature can be so cruel at times ! A great collage of wonderful scenes of the storm Dione . I hope all is abating and the clearing up of all the debris can commence ! Great shots -fav
Oh my gosh - your description of the wind is horrifying! I've never been in a wind like that - very scary. This is a great collage and depiction of the weather.
Nice collage! Those storms seem pretty intense. I'll bet they are kind of exciting though. I seem to enjoy a good storm as long as it doesn't do too much damage.
Wow- those waves are amazing and all look as forceful as you describe them to be. It sounds rather dangerous to have gone out for them but they sure are impressive!
( we have two day`s of warm weather records now. )
