In my 1st year at Tain Royal Academy I enjoyed 'Home Economics' - we had cookery classes and also sewing classes. In the summer term 'Simplicity Patterns' held a Fashion Show and I was thrilled to be chosen as one of the models! Even though I am only 5ft 1inch tall!!!
These were the information sheets I was given at the time - one with all the things we had to do/think about, and the other with the different styles that were on show! I still remember mine vividly - and it was the start of my sewing for life!
I can't count all the items I made over the years! And it has given me so much pleasure......and saved quite a lot of money!
These precious papers will be going in a safe place along with the exam papers and a few other items!!
What a lovely memory to share with us. I used to make some of my own clothes but haven't made anything for about 20 years, your photo made me wonder why I gave that up.
What a lovely story. I used to make all my own clothes too, but not any more. There aren't so many places to buy fabrics now. The markets used to great places for a bargain.
