The chicks left to visit with another classmate this afternoon, but we all enjoyed our time with them! They were such sweet little babies, especially when they were sleeping all snuggled together. So many cute photos, so little time - so, another collage. :)
Matthew was especially thrilled to watch the "peep peeps". He kept trying to give them hugs by leaning over and putting his face on their soft little heads. (Don't worry, no chicks were harmed by enthusiastic toddler hugs, we were very careful.)

With a heavy heart, I have to report that these poor little babies didn't make it through the night last night - not while in our care, but it doesn't really matter, a warming lamp malfunction could have happened on anyone's watch - and so the class had a rather harsh lesson about loss today. Just another reminder of how fragile and fleeting life can be. :(
