There is nothing I can do about the fact that my country has elected as our next president a man who embodies the exact opposite values I strive to teach my children each day.
The only thing that I can do is to be the light.
My whole family. We can be the light. We choose kindness, tolerance, forgiveness, responsibility, love, joy, and peace over hate and fear.
Because even in the deepest darkness, the smallest light still shines brightly.
Beautiful words and picture. Although I live here I could not vote (green card), but agree with you 100%. Actually it is quite scary what my kids, especially my 13yr old told me yesterday - most of his friends are Latinos and are afraid to be deported! Saying this, my son is the only one with a Mexican passport (and a European one too), all other kids have been born here.
Just hope they will be strong enough to step over the hate and fear - I will do my best and am sure there are more families like yours!
