Built for Africa

I just bought myself a 2nd hand bike to replace the one that was stolen a couple of months ago. This is an ultra simple bike. No frills or fuss. No gears, no shock absorbers, and no brakes on the handlebars. Braking is achieved by pedalling backwards. It is very heavy and sturdy. Reading up about these bikes, they have been built for Africa with simplicity and longevity on poor roads in mind. I was worried about braking by pedalling backwards, but it feels surprisingly comfortable to ride
have fun!

It looks great. I remember as a kid, all the bikes had back pedal brakes.

Looks very sturdy. I remember learning to ride a bike without handbrakes.

@anniesue @narayani @beckyk365 Thank you. My bike as a kid did have brakes on the handlebars so I have never ridden on a back pedal brake before. But I do love my Tweety yellow bike!
