Squatter Camp

Cellphone shot through the passenger window as we sped past on the highway leaving Cape Town this morning after spending the night in town. This is one place it is definitely far too dangerous to stop, but it has always intrigued me how people who can't afford more than shacks for shelters or homes will find money for DSTV dishes

Good shot - and question. A lot of poorer people here have Foxtel (same sort of dishes) and I wonder the same thing.

@narayani How interesting to learn it is not only here that priorities seem to be upside down. I do believe television, and especially the expensive pay tv channels, would be the last thing on my wish list
