OK - Lately I am trying to take most of my pictures for this project with one of my DSLR cameras. But sometimes the best photo op of the day happens when those cameras aren't available. This is one of those days.
I specifically bought my new point and shoot camera ( http://365project.org/sharonlc/365/2011-05-12 ) because it is small and compact, so I don't have to leave the house without a camera even if I'm only carrying a small purse. When I was going to the supermarket this morning I told myself that I probably wouldn't need the camera today, but I popped it into my purse anyway. I'm glad I did. Imagine my surprise when I was waiting at the deli counter and noticed a group of strolling musicians approaching!
Today the supermarket is having a special event to raise funds to combat cancer, and as part of the event they hired this group of musicians. They were lovely guys and didn't mind posing for a couple of shots.
No, this isn't as good a photo as I could have taken with my D60 or D7000. It's not even as good as I could have taken with my P90. However, I normally wouldn't have had any camera at all during a quick trip to the supermarket, so I was happy to have the little point-and-shoot with me this morning in order to capture this moment.
