This bridge was constructed in 1868 by the Smith Bridge Company of Tipp City, Ohio. Devised and patented in 1867 by Robert Smith, both tension and compression members were all wood. During the period of 1867 to 1870, Smith built 15 of these patented structures in Miami County, Ohio.
what a great structure - I've seen a few of these covered bridges posted on here -really nice to see, we have nothing like that in the UK! love the colours and tones
@sparkle - That is interesting Juliette that there are no covered bridges in the UK. I think one of the unique things about the UK is the beautiful bridges you have. I would have thought there would be a least one covered bridge in the rural country side!
@hollandcrew - Thank you Al!! There are three covered bridges within a short distance of where I live. Two are still open to traffic, but this one isn't.
@grannysue - Thank you Linda! I appreciate all your kind comments!
@kerristephens - Thank you very much Kerri!!
@lynnb - Thank you so much Lynn for the very kind comments!!
@redrucksack - Thank you very much Eva!! The bridge is situated over the river where it is impossible to get a full shot of it because of trees,
@binski - Thank you Very much Robin!!
