This is my youngest granddaughter after she climbed to the summit of this rock climbing wall on her own. The faux rock is 8 feet (2.5 meters) high and resides at the playground. Even the rock seems to approve!
Three good things
1. What turned out to be a great "coincidence" is that from 6/15- 6/18 she went to Vacation Bible School and this year's theme was, Mt. Everest.
2. During the closing program on the 18th they had a man speak who has climbed Everest twice. I don't know how much the kids learned but I learned a lot.
3. Mountain climbers do not start out at the bottom and climb to the top. They make numerous ascents to the different bases and then descend to lower camps to prepare themselves for the thinner air up towards the top. On Everest there are 5 camps (Base Camp, Camps 1-4) and the summit. The climb took 7 weeks only to spend 30 minutes on the summit.
"Baby-Bear Rock" and (sorta) Goldilocks! Boy do I admire the agility and fearlessness of kids this age! Good for her...she'll love looking back on this conquest...and you have the prize-wining photo!
