House Finch Circling For A Landing by skipt07

House Finch Circling For A Landing

I'm still trying to get a bird in flight and get more of its body in focus. This was entirely my fault as I didn't increase the shutter speed enough.
Amazing

Still a great capture of this bird in motion. I can't really tell a purple finch from a house finch.

Impressive shot nonetheless!

@gardencat - They are close in looks. If you noticed I changed the title as I Googled Purple and House Finches. Purple Finches have a lot more red over their bodies while the House Finch is mostly the head and some on the upper breast. The Purple's beak is a little longer and the House's head is rounder. So I think that this is a House Finch based on its beak and head shape.

I love this -- the finch (purple? house? I could never tell them apart but your explanation helps!) face in focus, the softness of the moving parts, balanced in air with the colors complementing the bird as the background.

@skipt07 Thanks for the info. It would be so much easier if they would just come and pose together! LOL

@gardencat - I'm going to have to be more vigilant and see if Purple Finches even come to our feeder. Hopefully I can get a good picture of one!

I like it like this as it shows the movement - it would look odd totally frozen in flight.

@vignouse - Point taken. Thank you!
