@maggiemae - I have never been a fan of Sparrows. If they find a small opening they will try to nest in it. Plus they keep Bluebirds away. However, they are a good bird to have around if you have a garden. They get in around the plants and eat the bugs that are damaging to the plants.
I've got a host of sparrows around my yard, maybe that is why I've never seen a bluebird. My sparrows are looking very plump right now. Don't think they have actually put on much weight but they have puffed their feathers up to keep out the cold.
