There isn't much that can beat a new snowfall in the morning. The snow acts as a sound buffer and everything seems quiet and still for a moment in time.
@Weezilou - My maternal grandfather's house was in a heavily wooded area. I can vividly recall staying over a number of times and awaking to the unbelievable sight of all the trees wearing a heavy coat of snow. Going out side your ears strain to hear a sound, hoping that you wouldn't so it wouldn't ruin the experience. I wish I had a camera back then.
