Currier and Ives? by skipt07

Currier and Ives?

I wanted to get a picture of some of the lights I finished putting up yesterday since it snowed last night and today. I found it a little harder then I thought. So I tried my hand at giving it somewhat of Currier and Ives look.
Great job on the shot and your decorating!

After experiencing above normal temperatures then going to this makes it harder to adjust. But I guess we knew it was coming sometime.

Lovely shot Skip....I really like it....may I suggest that you find an angle where the lights don't all stop at the same level? The bottom half is gorgeous....the top half looks forgotten. imho

@lynnb - Thank you Lynn for your kind comments and suggestions!! I'll experiment and see what I can do to achieve that. The top half was forgotten because it is a crab apple tree and very hard to maneuver around it without losing some skin.

@skipt07 I understand the difficulty....I do like the lighting...it just ends both on the tree and the house at the same level, so I thought a different angle might soften that cut off somewhat.

@lynnb - I completely under stand what you meant. I was just thinking through in my head that if I lower the camera angle it will raise the light level on both the tree and the house. In reality at night with the naked eye you don't see the tree top like you can in the photograph or not as clearly so it doesn't seen so apparent that almost half the tree isn't covered in lights. The upper layer of lights I placed using a pole with a hook on it to reach. Maybe I should buy more lights and cover more of the tree. That maybe easier to do then finding a camera angle to separate the height of the tree lights from the house lights.

@skipt07 Goodness....don't do it on one person's word! I'm going to stop now....I like the picture....full stop!

you did an awesome job...this season will be my first try at night photography...yikes!

@binski - Thank you very much Robin!! Night photography can be a lot of fun and it can be frustrating at times. Practice at different settings and by all means use a tripod for the best results.
