Fortunate Son by skipt07

Fortunate Son

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Ooh, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail To The Chief"
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no (Lyrics Creedence Clearwater Revival)

Why do I like fireworks so much? I always have as much as I love parades. Even when I was young the loud booms didn't frighten me. When I got older I met a man who told me he shot fireworks. At first, I thought he was feeding me a line but the more we talked I realized he was telling me the truth. So I asked him if he would teach me how to do it and he answered, "Sure." My wife and I shot fireworks for 9 years for Pyrotecnico out of New Castle, PA. We did everything from football games to 4th of July celebrations. Our first 4th of July show was on the first 4th of July following 9/11, July 4, 2012, in Carnegie, PA. It was an emotional experience as most Americans were very patriotic following the happenings of 9/11. That year, Pyrotecnico put a set piece in every show free of charge. A set-piece is a wooden frame covered with colored lances - these are the pyrotechnic devices which are arranged to form a pattern which in this case were American flags. When lit they were a full sized pyrotechnic red, white and blue flag. We lit the set-piece towards the end of the show just before the grand finale and even with our ear protection in place we could hear the crowd chanting, "USA, USA, USA!" I will never forget that experience as long as the Lord allows me to breathe air into my lungs!

As far as the Viet Nam War, which this song is about, I might be considered to be an unfortunate son. But I am not as I volunteered to serve at the request of my country. God will judge the actions of those who sent us there. As far as being born in America I am truly a fortunate son!
Terrific capture - and thanks for the peep into your fireworks life - it must have been amazing :) fav

Fav. Great fireworks capture. If you want to capture fireworks you should come to Malta in Summer. There are fireworks displays in more than one place throughout the season as every parish in the country holds the feast of its patron saint in summer and fireworks are a must for every feast.
