I tried to capture the essence of this 1979 Pontiac Trans Am in one close-up of its iconic hood decal, known as the "screaming chicken" along with its equally iconic shaker hood scoop. Taken at the car show and processed this morning.
@groovygirlrn Thanks, Sheri - since we are dating ourselves, I was in college when this car was sold new! But there were more than a few Trans Ams in my high school parking lot also!
@allisonrap Thanks so much, Allison. The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was a muscle/pony car that was very popular in the U.S. from 1969 through 2002. It was named after the Trans-Am automobile racing series and became famous in the 1977 movie "Smokey and The Bandit" which starred Burt Reynolds and a black 1977 Trans Am with gold striping. That movie sold a lot of Trans Ams!
@jdr4690 Thank you, Rob! I shot this Trans Am from many angles, but nothing captured its essence better than the screaming chicken and shaker hood scoop!
Great !!! I love the title :D
I love muscle cars... I really hope to see some of them in my next trip !
Great job... I can imagine the sound of the engine :D
@stefun Thanks, Stephane, glad you like the image and my title! I also love muscle cars and you are in for a treat when you arrive in the U.S. - we are car crazy here! Especially Southern California. You are going to see some really cool cars on the road in the States. Try to go to either a local car show or a muscle car museum when you are in America.
You definitely captured the essence you were looking for. Love that you got the iconic decal in something other than a straight on shot. I think the angle of the capture adds so much.
@joeboxster Thanks for the kind comments. This was an original color choice from Pontiac for the 1979 Trans Am. By 1979, the muscle car party was long over, they had turned out the lights and told everyone to go home. They just forgot to tell that to Pontiac!
