No, not that kind of fetish - this fetish is carved by the Zuni Indian tribe in the American southwest, and I collect these. A fetish was believed to lend guardian and medicinal powers to the warrior who carried it. The arrow strapped to the back of the bear represents medicine and is meant to ward off surprise attacks. It's worked well for me.
That's gorgeous, Ron, and beautifully presented! Having lived in Arizona in my teens, I wish now that I'd begun to collect them all those years ago... They're quite lovely, and I love the miniature size of them.
Excellent composition, lovely presentation, lighting and detailing, its a beautiful thing to own Ron, we have some Navajo artifacts from our visits to Utah and Monument Valley:)
Super composition and detail in this one, Ron. Your fetish has made a great photography subject. If I might ask, what is it setting on and what's creating the perfect colors and patterns around this bear?
@Weezilou Thanks, Louise. I started to collect them when living in Phoenix myself. I've lost some of them in the subsequent moves, but I know they're around this house somewhere!
@pcoulson Thank You, Peter. Something a little different, photography-wise, for this guy. I don't have many little toys to take shots of, but I think I'll be accumulating some more - for those rainy days!
@lyndemc You're going to love this - the background is created by some aluminum foil that was crinkled up and then unfolded and hung in the background with an incandescent light shining on it. The bear is on a mirror, so the foil is reflected on the base under the bear. I played a bit with the color settings in Lightroom and there ya go! Thanks for the compliments!
