Day long travel day today, so a filler from the Laguna Beach shoot using the crystal ball. This was shortly before the shot of the lifeguard tower - we had a little more light in the sky at the time.
you got wonderful lighting here that lit parts of the wood, too. beautiful. i should take out my crystal ball and see what it can do in the minus 13 weather! you did well!
Knowing how heavy and fragile that ball is, there's a "breathing tension" just looking at this sitting close to the edge of that post! @panthora I had mine out at the pool this afternoon and one time tried to hold it for a shot and wow! the sun could give quite a burn Knowing what was happening, I set it back down quickly! I haven't looked through all today's photos, but may post one later... Osia, I love it! ♥
@summerfield Thanks, Vikki. A crystal ball with a little frost on it (I'm sure that wouldn't be hard to do currently) would really make for some cool effects. Do it!
@panthora Thanks, Osia, I must admit I took great care to make sure the ball stayed in place! You should have seen me balancing it on my tripod later. :-O
@joysfocus Thank you Joy. Yeah, you really don't expect to get such detail in a crystal ball shot. I was trying to get the sunset on the beach and got a few, but they were not overwhelming. But as I went back to the walkway I stopped and had an epiphany, stopped, shot and smiled. Thanks for the comment.
@Weezilou I think I mention elsewhere that I found a solution to carting such a heavy and fragile item around - those lens cases that I never use was perfect. Padded and with a handle, made for weight. It was perfect! No need to worry about the ball rolling - it wasn't real close to the edge. But I did like the effect of separating the ball from the usual mounting piece.
