this, you have seen before. but i'm not wearing it these days because i broke the clasp :-) this is my writer's charm bracelet. i used to have the open book charm and a quill and inkwell charm. i lost them both while shredding confidential papers. not at the same time though. now i can't find those charms anymore.
i'm off to "word on the street" to be with my writerly acquaintances. i would still carry my camera with me to practice shooting from the shoulder. (pssst! i rest my camera on my shoulder pretending i'ma looking at something but actually taking shots of people covertly. don't tell anybody, okay?)
i'll catch up with you guys when i come back. remind me please if i've not been on your album yet.
This is just too beautiful; do you not have any jewellers who make items to order? I have just had a necklace made for a friend of mine, it is a book on a chain. You could replace your lost items this way maybe?
@claireuk - thank you, claire. the book charm was especially made for me and was given to me by partner. the quill and inkwell was silver and i had it dipped in gold. i do have a jeweller friend in manila who can make them for me perhaps, but i never thought about it before. all the more reason to go back there for a visit. my best friend and i when we visit, we would always buy some pieces from him just to help him out. it gives him a sure income for at least 10 months when we send our payments.
Nice capture of your pretty little charm. A pity about the others that have gone off on their own way though. Thanks for the 'shooting from the shoulder' tip - I might have to try that sometime!
I have only lost two pieces of jewelry in my life time and both were heartbreaking. The first was given to me by my mother, a little ring with a very tiny ruby in it. It fell off my hand in school somewhere and I never found it. The other was my engagement diamond. It fell out of the setting and I still cry when I think of it being in a dump somewhere. Anyway that has nothing to do with your shot, but your story reminded me of it. All the bracelets look great- love the way you zig-zagged them.
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. the only jewelry i regret losing was my mother's ring, too. she had a solitaire that was meant for the 'eldest' girl in the family. i hid some of my jewelry in pockets of my blazers and the last time i moved, i sorted all the clothes i don't wear anymore and gave them to salvation army. i didn't realize i lost the ring that way until a few years when, sorting through my safety deposit box to get the ring, i could not find it. until now, i still feel bad because it was my only tangible memento of her.
@acousticlover - thank you, anya.
