a noun meaning the prodigal expense for food, or spending lavishly on fine foods.
if abligurition is a crime, i'd be found guilty of it today. it had been an especially busy day at the office and then i had to meet for dinner a friend i haven't seen in about four years (give or take a few). when i passed by the godiva chocolatier below our building, i suddenly remembered the mad minute word for today. heavens forbid if i won't have a posting for my word. so detoured to the shoppe and $30-some later (after four minutes), i have 8 truffles, 4 bars of milk chocolate on sale for $10 for the four, and a free bag of their new product, chocolate lava cake truffles. i still have to justify this abligurition and i'm thinking it's still my birthday month so i can still gift myself with godiva chocolate.
you see, i have stayed away from godiva for several years. i don't know why but today, thanks to mad minute word challenge, i had the urge to have some. my introduction to godiva chocolate was sometime in the early 80's when i worked for a belgian engineering company and our Belgian expatriates would bring me godiva chocolates whenever they come to manila. word spread around at the brussels office that the executive assistant in manila loved chocolate and belgians were so proud of their belgian chocolates. in fact, when i arrived in brussels in 1984, my then beloved brought me straight to the godiva shoppe at the grand place.
yum...yummmmmm....yummmmm....ah, it's like heaven.
This is not a good picture for me to be seeing at 11:40 pm. It's bedtime and now I will dream about chocolate all night and then wake up craving chocolate and THEN when I go to the bank HAVE to get something chocolate to stop the craving. But THEN I will not have had enough so I will have to go to the supermarket and buy mint chocolate chip ice cream so I can have chocolate and mint for the 7 days and finally (maybe, but not likely) the craving will stop! See what you did to me with your abligurition?!
@olivetreeann - oh, great heavens!! the chocolate lava cake (the purple wrapped ones) are exquisitely sinfully delicious i can die now. (sheepishly - i was just trying it on!) :-)
They look so delicious!! Years ago I worked in a Thorntons continental chocolate shop, one of my better jobs, surrounded by all that devine choc! and trying out the samples! Great photo for the mad minute word.
Very well done -- especially the lighting, which is something I'm struggling to learn. This looks like a Godiva ad. It's a good think I bought myself that one Godiva bar. Otherwise, like Ann, I would be totally craving chocolate at the moment. Good illustration of abligurition, IMO.
Just love Godiva Chocolate! We don't get them here in South Africa but when my hubby was traveling to the Netherlands on a regular basis he'd always bring some home. The new ones sound very delectable! I hope you enjoy all your treasures. :-)
@678tabby - i always wondered how it is to work around chocolate. all that sweet smell. i can actually control my cravings. 1% of the time. :-) thank you, june.
@salza - my only complain about the new one is that it is made of dark chocolate. i don't care for it much, i prefer white chocolate or milk chocolate. there's also another awesome belgian chocolate that i always indulge in - leonida's. oy! super delicious. thank you, sally.
@ness50 - they're okay, i suppose. my favourite chocolatier moved on to better things, like there is something better than chocolate. thank you, vanessa.
@summerfield there is nothing better than chocolate, photography comes close and if I combine the two then I'm very happy, just wish there was a chocolate that helped me to lose weight, oh well - dreaming again :)
Stunning stunning shot - I have to fav this
