the other horse gave the winner (#2) a good work out. this was from the first race today at the woodbine race track. we went to watch the pattison international meet and i have this and a few other panning shots from two other races, as well as 13 flags of different countries with horses in the meet and three winter scarves that were being given away plus a fee two-dollar bet which garnered me a whopping six-dollar win.
drama before the fifth race. the favourite to win the pattison meet was 'brown panther', an english horse. about a minute before the race when they were setting up the horses, the horse suddenly bolted past the starting gate and kept running the turf. he ran so fast he dropped his jockey who couldn't stop him. fortunately both jockey and horse were unharmed but was scratched from the race. his owner, former british athlete michael owen, was beside himself. yup, came all the way here for nothing.
Superb action shot. The tail of the horse closest to the rail looks like it's hind leg! I had to look really closely and count the hooves to check that it wasn't....lol
@bill_fe - one of the reasons why i bought a dslr in 2012 was so i could do panning shots. that, smoke and water crown, i had no problem doing them. it's the rear sync flash and light painting that stump and kill me all the time. thank you, bill.
@bill_fe - i also don't know how to use my external flash. the tutorials say you get good results with the smoke if you use external flash. i should try and do it one day and if i can't i'll get rid of my external flash.
@summerfield I've got an external flash, an SB-800. I have to trigger it with the built in flash though. I'll have to check the tutorial, then find some incense.
Hard luck for brown panther.……and his owner. Glad everyone is OK
