this is an overdue response to mike gifford's @mikegifford get pushed challenge from three weeks ago. tall order, mike, especially that the weather and circumstances conspired against me.
well, tonight the moon was out despite it being cloudy the whole day (there were a few clouds and more will come as the weatherman predicted rain for tomorrow), and partner was in the mood - to drive me to the marina. the marina, as you can see, is so well lit that i have to find a dark enough vantage point. now there was also the problem of the moon being so high up that it almost wouldn't fit in the frame. i could've zoomed in a tad bit to get rid of the fence at the bottom but i wanted the trees framing the shot and still get the moon in. i know i can do better than this, but time was the essence as partner was parked in a no-parking zone, my back was to a really busy highway so i was getting all the shocks and shakes whenever a truck or cars sped by so i had to time my shot carefully. plus it was really dark and all i could make out in my view finder were the lights. excuses! excuses!
in the olden times i'd be shooting a whole lot but i did this in five takes, adjusting my ISO and exposure bias to get this. say you're proud of me, mike! the star trails i would have to try when bestie and i will be vacationing in the islands.
