Plan for today's photo:
1. tulips are looking good -- maybe I can take them up to the roof and take a shot with the skyscrapers as background
2. beautiful blue sky -- will do this in afternoon as a reward for working on proposal
3. blue sky goes away
4. walk up anyway, carrying a single tulip in a lovely vase. Notice wind is picking up
5. place vase with flower in perfect spot for Sears tower in background
6. watch in horror as vase and flower crashes from roof to lower deck -- no one hurt, nothing damaged except sad little flower
7. decide to try again from lower deck with less wind and heavier vase but can't get railing out of photo ( http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-04-16)
8. since I can't get the right background just go with clouds
9. on computer, photo not that interesting
10. ETSOOI in b&w and post!
@westcoastwallis@kerristephens@darylo@photodude Thank you all for commenting! Scott, I love that you said "another" in your comment. And Daryl, thank you so much for the fav! Paula, I appreciate your seeing the humor in this whole thing!
I think we've all had a mishap or two like that! Sorry about the first shot- save it for another day. This one is fine. You'll be able to try again. I don't think the Tower is going anywhere.
Haha - love the commentary! Sometimes, the greatest ideas get smacked in the face by reality, but you made the best of it and turned in a beautiful shot.
Oh what an ordeal! Some days really are like that; you got a wonderful photo from it though - the clouds are nice and the delicate texture of the tulip is gorgeous :-) Love the b&w.
@eyesmile@colie@vankrey Thank you Gena, Colie, and Michael! I appreciate the visit and the comment. And Michael -- wasn't it fun having Junko back for a day?
The tulip looks surreal with the "larger than life" look! Very interesting effect, and delightful reading (despite the frustration and horror the situation must have caused) . . .
Taffy, I love the way you do play-by-play of your photography! You've posted some really good photos while I've been gone--on the PP a few times! I love the texture on your lily leaf, and I think the hockey photo was very good for a challenging situation!
I didn't know Junko is back in town, she would have been welcome to the steel wool event, too! I'd love for us to plan our meetup before I leave for my trip (mid-June)
@anwan Hi Annette and thanks for looking at my photos and such kind comments! Very nice of you! I actually was processing the second to last of the photos I want to post from our steel wool trip.
Junko was only here for a day. She's now in Korea with Bill and then goes back to Germany. I wouldn't have even gotten to see her if she hadn't delayed leaving for a meeting in Texas by a day because she was so tired. So we had a fun early evening at PIcasso and then dinner with Jim. Too quick! Will write more but in email...til then!
You did a very good job in processing. Like the B & W and the cutout !
I love the PoV and that you got the sky/clouds in. Wonderful processing, works really well in b&W.
@sparkle Thank you Juliette!
