I took the photo on Wednesday (the Buckingham Fountain photo shoot night) and decided to save it for the ETSOOI-9 photo for this week. The evening was actually quite beautiful, as my earlier images show. I thought it would be fun to edit until it looked totally different than the real thing. The orange lighting along the tracks gave me the idea for the overall look.
Thank you all for viewing and your wonderful comments on my fountain photos, one of which made it to PP. I appreciate it and today used my limited time to look at your photos rather than individually responding (unless you asked a question -- still trying to answer those, as I'm reading all comments). Making slow progress on chapter but at least some progress...
Awesome editing. Love how the train lines lead you to the back and then the rising buildings take you all the way up the photo. Perfect composition and fabulous finish. FAV.

Thank you so much for commenting! I only have a few minutes left of my allotted hour and it feels good to close out with such lovely comments about the photo!!
@kevinmckay Thanks so much Kevin! I'm using Nik Suite -- the Color Efex Pro part of it for this shot. It's a single shot (I should post it but if you want to see what the lighting was like, look at the one in my extras album from yesterday). I then applied things like graduated filters, polarizing filter, contrasts, detail extractor, etc. I stacked about 6 different things to make it look orange, ominous, detailed, and almost cartoon-like. I'd highly recommend the plug-in -- it can do a lot more than what I am capable of, but I'm slowing figuring out all the varying adjustments you can make.
That's so cool, like something from a science fiction movie, fav! Thanks for sharing how you did it too; something to add to my to-do list when I get a bit more experienced.
Bravo! Superb image processing! I'm loving the Nik Collection plugin too. I know you have mastered it better then I have..I've only been game enough to use a couple of filters and recipes. I know I shall head on up ^ to hit the FAV button!
Oh wow! Iu should have written to view large and on black! It is even better like that...feels like I am standing on the edge of some post apocalyptic city....and you never know what is lurking in those nooks and crannies and cubbyholes. Total Fav for me and am citing for this to win ETSOOI challenge! You should try the Mad Minute challenge I put up. I'd love to see what you did with it...the word is mickle...a lot of little things that make a great amount of something. Anyway...this photo is probably going to be my " fav of all my fav's " for this week. It it two things I love.....ETSOOI. And just amazing!
@espyetta Thanks so much MaryBeth! I've looked at the Mad Minute and thought about it, but always end up feeling I'm not creative enough when I see what others do! But, you are so encouraging that I should give it a shot. I know what you mean re viewing this large -- I love it that way on my computer, but always feel odd suggesting it in comments. Sometimes I do note it, but often I just hope someone will view it larger when it's a complicated image. Anyway, many many thanks!
Thanks for commenting! Tim -- sci-fi is what I was going for and Jayn, the drama was another part, so I'm glad that worked. And Daniel -- definitely over the top (and so much fun!).

Arefin -- thanks so much for the fav and the kind comments!
Scott, I laughed out loud at your comment as I had been thinking "Gotham" when I was processing!
Gotta put a fav to this one. I just love how the sun is catching certain windows in the buildings. Very well done you should be very proud of this one!!!!!!!!!!!
@sailingmusic Thanks Myrna -- it turned out to be one of my personal favorites as it came out the way I had imagined it when I took the original shot. I knew then what I wanted to turn it into.
@colie Thanks so much! It was quite a shock, but in a good way. Very reinforcing and all that. It just underscored for me how much I've learned since Jan 1!
