This is a small pond I spied on the way to taking Nutmeg to Andy's Grooming which is on a small, inland horse farm built originally by John McCafferty (who also built our garage -- Beaver Island is a very small world). Shout out to Jim who stopped for me to get out of the car to take some photos, commenting that he feels he is supporting an addict's addiction. It has been a fairly gray day today so clearly some processing was involved here. While the most spectacular views here tend to be associated with the 'big lake' as Lake Michigan is referred to, there are lovely quiet spots of beauty throughout the island's inner sections as well.
Another scene from the island, in b&w for this week's theme, is in my extras/challenges album: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-05-28
@jankoos@amandal@paula365 Thanks Jan, Manada, and Paula. Paula -- I'm from Chicago, but lived in Michigan for 19 years (until 2001), not including college (MSU in the 1960s). We have a home on Beaver Island and spend summers here -- just arrived on Sunday.
@havrotb@eyesmile Thanks for the fav, Barbara and Gena! I hope your sigh, Gena, is because it made you feel relaxed! @jodimuli I read your comment to Jim - he smiled.
@eyesmile It's fun for me to see the response to this particular photo as it's a little island of beauty in an otherwise common sort of area -- what you'd expect on a sandy soil type of farm area, off a dirt road. I love how 365 is making me see things that for 20 years of coming to the island, I never even noticed.
@espyetta Thanks -- I just read your comment to Jim. He rolled his eyes (at me, not your comment). Thought I was already following you and just noticed I wasn't...no wonder I'd missed some of your posts!
@taffy yeah, when I show my husband that I have mentioned him, or that he is IN a photo (heaven forbid!) he does the same. But I think he secretly likes it or finds it entertaining. I hope. I think I am following you...must be, or I'd not see your pics I guess. But will make sure...
Haha, Jim's comment made me laugh... it is a bit like that if we really 'come out' and let our other halves know how much time we spend eating, breathing, sleeping photography and 365!! I try to hide a lot of it from Roy!! Love those pink flowers by the water's edge and the w hole tranquility of the scene.... how's Nutmeg looking after her grooming?!
To my fellow addicts -- many thanks for your kind comments! It is so much fun capturing various island scenes. And since little has bloomed yet, I'm hoping it will only get better!
@busylady Thanks, Judith, for the comment about how realistic it looks! It's totally fake, but I worked hard to get the right level of color and really apprecaite your noticing. It was very very gray (and today we are totally fogged in), so I did up the saturation to get a more interesting take on the scene.

Thanks for liking the scene and commenting!
Kazzy - Monet is who I had in mind -- so cool that you saw it too!! I just read your comment to Jim. Another eye roll at me!
Jo - we are hoping for a good one. Last summer was very short due to dog surgery with complications, the start of the Nutmeg saga, so it's very exciting to be up here already!
Michael, you would love it here, I suspect, and I'd have fun seeing what you see through your very creative perspective.
@annbo @cathieg Thanks Ann and Cathie! I appreciate it.
This is such a pretty shot, great comp and colors!
@jodimuli I read your comment to Jim - he smiled.
Thanks KWind, Lisa, Colie, and Pratik! I appreciate your viewing and commenting.

Marloes, Daryl, Lunaksi, Elaine, and Vanessa, Thanks for your visit, comment, and support. I really appreciate it.
Incurable!
