Beth and John M. built unfinished farm on several acres of Beaver Island's inland area. For several summers, Beth ran a horse camp for kids and grownup kids visiting or living on the island, but now does mostly boarding. I was driving home and the daisies and horses caught my eye. It looked so peaceful.
I thought it might be a nice change from the flowers, and it shows one component of the land diversity on the island -- lakeshore, forests, farms, residential, commercial, fishing village, etc.
@kareenking@hjbenson Thanks Kareen and Harry. I had taken several shots and couldn't figure out what the best POV would be so am glad you mentioned the composition.
@pflaume Thanks Lisa. I actually went past it as I needed to get home quickly, debated for about 1/4 mile, then turned around and went back. Ended up being glad I did as I'm guessing I won't get back there while the daisies are in full bloom.
@espyetta I'm guessing unfinished refers to their plans for it as it is just beautiful right now! BTW, I really liked viewing your video of your favorite shots. I remember so many of them but there were a lot from before I"d started following you and it was fun to see them. What an incredible portfolio!
HI, let me introduce myself: I'm Julie, your Get-Pushed challenger for this week. I've looked through both of your albums and like what I see. We two have quite a few things in common apart from our love of photography! Sadly, you'll not see any of my beautiful big, black dog 'Hero' as he went to chase rabbits in Doggy Heaven in January. However I'll leave you to findout about the rest...
Meanwhile, my challenge to you is to make an image of food and if possible in hi-key. I'll post a couple of examples from my last year's collection to give you an idea of the sort of thing I have in mind, but it's up to you how you interpret the challenge.
@julieco Hi Julie. This will be a good challenge for me this week and I'll have fun thinking it through -- I've taken very few food photos, and none in high key. It's so ironic that you mentioned Hero -- I can totally relate as this morning was Nutmeg's final. I'll be using today for her tribute and will view and post your challenge later today or tomorrow. 365 is such a good distraction!
@taffy Thank you so much! I like doing the video to mark the end. It helps me find all my favorite photos as they get spread out on external drives, thumb drives, the laptop, the desk top, Ipad, iphone...ugh. And, it helps me realize that it may have been a trying year...but there were good things in it too!
@espyetta videos are wonderful - for a few years now I put all the great family pics onto video and we watch it at Christmas - it is a great memory of the year and provides many laughs ( out come those embarrassing candid shots ) - you have made me think about doing the same for myself of my other photos :)
@stimuloog@orangecrush Thanks Marloes and Jerry. I'm glad I caught this shot -- I'd almost passed it by assuming I'd photograph a neighbor's daisy field, only to discover today that they mowed it all before they bloomed!

@anazad511 I do love it here - it can be very idyllic. It's a very quiet sort of place so a great contrast to Chicago.

Thank you all for your kind comments on the scene. I also thought it was so tranquil -- the kind of scene I'd like to plop myself into and hang out.
Thanks Jo, Pyrrhula, and Colie -- I'm glad I caught it while the daisies were in bloom!
