I have always liked the way friends of ours built a fence from trees and used stones as a base. We had dinner at their home tonite, reminiscing about our lives with our dogs -- Nutmeg and Molly had been friends during their Beaver Island summers. And I wandered around their yard and deck taking photos as the sun was setting.
Processed this one first in silver efex pro, then in HDR efex pro.
I'm still hoping to get a shot of the super moon tonite but it won't be til after midnight as it's still below the trees. I'm guessing it won't be over the lake til 2:00 a.m. and don't know if I'll make it that late.
A wonderful fence! I can see why you like it so well. A lovely evening also with your friends. Thinking of you and Nutmeg! Hope you get your moon shot! I have been enjoying so many of them...we have clouds and rain...no moon here!!
@eyesmile Thanks Gena for the kind thoughts. And while I stayed up til 3:00 a.m. to try to get the moon over the lake, I wasn't able to do that -- but did get a decent closeup of only the moon so was happy in the end (but sleepy today!)
This is a fence with a lot of character. Great job on the processing- it brings out the texture and light. As far as the moon goes, I'd say go to bed a bit earlier and set the alarm. You're on vacation so you can always go back to bed after you've taken the perfect shot and sleep in a little later. (o:
@ness50 Vanessa, I don't think it's driftwood just because they are so high up on the bluff that I don't think they'd have carried it up. I suspect it comes from trees that were cut when they were building, and then left to dry to be used for the fence.
@olivetreeann Thanks for the comment on the processing -- I was trying to bring out the textures as much as possible. But, instead of sleeping (we're not really on vacation -- but the internet allows us to work from here very easily and with a lot of flexibility in our schedule), I stayed up til 3 a.m. -- only to learn that the moon does NOT get over the lake by then. I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer and decided to let it go rather than set an alarm...maybe tonite even though it's a day later, if the fog lifts!

Thanks Kazzy, Rachel, Carol, Arefin, Nicole, Harry, Katie, and Marloes! I'm glad that you all noticed texture/color/tone as that was what was made the shot worthwhile to me as well.
Thanks Timothy and Pam! I appreciate your comments!
