I've run out of time. I'd taken this as dusk, into the sun, thinking I could do something interesting tonite if our planned lightening bug capture followed by light painting didn't turn out. But I knew I'd have great shots from both of those plans for tonight. Guess what...neither panned out. Lightening bugs were uninteresting little green lights against a black background. Ugh! Light painting had promise but I wasn't that happy with them so will try again. So this was my backup, processed in Nik Color Efex for more practice. All in all, a discouraging day of photography.
Another shot from around the same time, to practice with into the sun lighting and flares is in my extras album... http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-07-06
Update in the light of day...thanks to your comments, I took another look. I realized I had only looked at this in terms of what it wasn't instead of what it actually was. So, I've moved from 'meh' as Daniel says, to 'not bad, kind of like it.' So thank you all.
I like your processing Taffy. It has become a really nice abstract. I often start out to take one kind of shot and something happens and it all turns out different to what I planned! Photography is one of those things - you have to wait for the magic moment! Especially with wildlife and landscape when you are waiting for the light! Tomorrow is another day!
Funky abstract. Sorry for your let down. I don't know if you saw my firefly attempts recently, but most of them were just tiny dots that looked like mistakes. Tough.
@anazad511 Thanks Ana. It was frustrating, but so weird as when I looked at it today, I liked it! It was my mindset...oh well.
@pflaume It did get better -- I like this one, but at 2:00 a.m., I got up, set up camera again, and figured out what I needed to do. Ridiculous to have done that, though!
@colie Thanks Colie -- I think the processing is what turned it into acceptable for posting. THe original was much less interesting. @olivetreeann A good laugh for today! I like thinking of ice and frost on hot ones like today (though at the moment, the lake breeze requires a hoodie -- which feels like a relief!). BTW, your ice cream thoughts re clouds are showing a pattern of your thinking today.
@taffy lol Taffy! I have viewed a whole bunch of ice cream shots from the July words list and now I can't wait to go food shopping so I can get some ice cream!!

@danielwsc Thanks Daniel -- I appreciate it! The more I look at it today, the more promise it seems to have.
@timandelke That's an interesting idea, Elke -- you must know textiles!
@archaeofrog Thanks Katie -- I have had ZERO luck with fireflies -- they are sparkling along the beach but don't show up at all on camera.
@jaynspain Jayn, you made me feel so good with your comment. Thank you so much!
