After "Meet the Artist" activities ( http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-07-27), I did a hike with our visiting friends and their two dogs, on the Kuebler Trail to Barney's Lake. Catherine is amazing when it comes to animals of any kind -- she can spot the tiniest thing, which is what she did to find this frog. Imagine her spotting something the size of your pinky fingernail darting just off the trail, moving quickly enough to pick it up, holding it gently in her hand for me to photo. The inset is to try to show the scale of how tiny this little guy was. I wish I'd had my macro with me!
Oh...what a cutie!! Love the inset....what a great idea!! You didn't need a marcro, the detail is amazing and ...well, he's just so cute!!! My Art in the Park is actually tomorrow. Tonight we went to the last performance of our Grandsons Children's Educational Theater production. It is so great to see those kids put their heart and souls into these productions, and enjoy it!! Sounds like you had lovely time as well!!
He is so cute! That sounds like a GREAT day! I don't have to imagine doing that...I have done it. Hee hee I think the more you do macro shots of tiny things, the more your brain starts to "see" them better. I am starting to read the book club book that some of us are doing for August. Are you doing that club? You should! Anyway, it talks about how many actual visual (and other senses) stimuli we all get every second of our lives. We'd go nuts if we attended to all of them, so we "learn" to just focus on certain ones, build constructs of what we expect things are, what we THINK we see that fits in those constructs. I knew this from college psychology/biology, but it was interesting to read this now, in relation to seeing to take a photo. Anyway, the brain, I am guessing, can relearn what and how to see some other things...So now, I see movement, or things that don't "look right" for the scene in front of me...and ah! It is a tiny bug, or frog, or what not. SO I guess that is how that works....anyway, you should do the book club. Did you sign up?
@espyetta I did sign up and am waiting for the book to make its way to the island -- always takes a bit longer, but it should be here this week. It makes total sense to me and even Catherine said it isn't that she 'sees' the tiny things, but she's learned to see movement and that is what helps her 'see' the bugs/frogs, etc. Just think how differently (I assume) we are all seeing the world because of 365! I can't wait for the book to get here and look forward to hearing from others as we read.
@taffy We all do feel we see the world in a different way than "pre-365" but what is also interesting is how we all still see the world differently from each other. That is a cool thought.... I hope that book makes its way to the island ASAP! It is a short read, so people not getting their copy right at the start will be fine.
@espyetta Just used picassa -- I made the main photo the background and then did a collage with one photo. It allowed me to upload the other photo into the smaller square and then reposition it. Actually, I'd started with two photos in a collage, then moved one to background, then took the one that was left and repositioned.
So cute! I saw two tiny little ones in front of me on the trail yesterday. It was very early (7:15 am) and I hadn't ever seen these guys before (but then again, I'm seldom on the hiking trail at that time!) I love how the hand in the photo is so pink against the little guy! FAV
@june Hi June -- Definitely up for get pushed! I'll get you a challenge by monday at the latest -- probably Sunday night. I'm looking forward to spending some time on your albums!
Hi Taffy, I was your get pushed partner and I do apologize for not getting back to you, We had a death in the family and we had to travel to the UK for the funeral, I am taking a break from the get pushed as I am trying not to get behind on just my daily shots, My sister is getting married this Friday as well so very busy as you can imagine. When things settle m down I will take you up on your challenge. Take care.
@cookie123 No problem! northy had said you had needed to withdraw and this past week was so busy that I was fine with it. Let's informally stay in touch and when you are ready, we can just do an informal one, or have northy pair us again sometime.

Thanks Cathy, Hettie, Wendy, and Judith! I'm glad the inset helped -- I'd debated about putting it in, but without it, there is just no way to know or even suspect the guy is no bigger than a fingernail!
What a wonderful shot of such a tiny frog - love the insert to show the size! 365 really does make us see things we would not have noticed before! I seem to spend my life seeing things as photos!
That's so funny and I appreciate the photo of "scale" because some of my macros are of such tiny subjects, which may not be so evident without the proof! Great use of an inset.
we are get pushed partners if you are up for it
Thanks Cathy, Hettie, Wendy, and Judith! I'm glad the inset helped -- I'd debated about putting it in, but without it, there is just no way to know or even suspect the guy is no bigger than a fingernail!
Thanks Jerri, Junan, and Lee -- I appreciate your support!
