Our friends and their two dogs were leaving on the afternoon ferry so we squeezed in a hike at Millers Marsh. There's the Big Field (yes, it's capitalized, and the road to it is called Big Field Road -- it's the field where I was able to photograph snakes a few weeks ago). And there is a 1 mile trail around the marsh lake. Caught these two moths and it looked to me like the one of the left was trying to warn the one on the right not to fall or something, the way it was looking at him/her. Milkweed is in bloom all over and the scent is terrific.
It's very quiet here now without any company!
Wonderful capture Taffy!! It sounds like a great place to walk round and find lots of wildlife!! I am missing the countryside of my holiday now and the lovely places i found!!
@steampowered There was a HUGE spot that I just got rid of (I hope) using picmonkey. I've been disappointed in my D600 which came with the sensor problem others have written about. I bought it used so will need to take it in when I get back to Chicago at the end of the month. I have that problem with my D90 but it is older and desperately needs clearly. I was not happy to see spots with my new camera body and usually try to catch them before posting. I slipped up last night as usually the problem is on landscapes, not macros. It's made me avoid certain photos, actually, because removing the spots is such a pain! Thanks for catching that as it was not a tiny thing at all!
@mzzhope Just the one butterfly I posted earlier, but no caterpillars. I read that it takes 4 generations of monarchs to make it to Beaver Island, and then one generation to get back. So I am guessing they must lay eggs and hatch sometime before the end of August to be strong enough for the return flight.
Sorry to see that there are some problems with your camera. But you did a good job erasing the spot. I didn't see anything until I read the comments before mine. Nicely captured!
moths really intrigue me! We caught one HUUUUUGE one in Martha's vineyard, and I was in awe of it. Have no idea what it was, but it was yellow and black/brown. Thisis a lovely capture.
@darylo Thanks Daryl for commenting on my photos today! I'm glad to see you are feeling better (or assume you are or why would you be commenting!!). Anyway, it's so kind of you to take the time to look at several and I really value your comments!
Enjoy the quiet time!!
Thanks Colie, Lee, Chris and BP! I'm glad you liked what BP called "moth action"!
