Every summer when we get to Beaver Island, I plant a bunch of annuals in flowerpots. Outside our bedroom is a very small deck where I have three of the railing type of planters. I do not have a green thumb. Some have said it's whatever the opposite is. One of the three planters is now totally empty of flowers. The second has two relatively unattractive plants sort of struggling to keep going. The third planter is thriving with dahlias and petunias competing for space and somehow all living happily. So, this photo is to honor those little survivors.
Taken with macro, then I upped black point to reduce the background to black. Used glamour glow filter in Color Efex to make this little one shine.
Thank you all so much for your wonderful compliments on "Nature's Drama," my sunset from yesterday. Because of you, it appeared on PP today. I'm so appreciative of your continued kindness and support!
Love your creativity here and I think it´s great that you give the infos so spesifically, I always like to understand how beautiful images are made. You made that Dahlia shine and gave it this mystic glow, it´s dramatic and it´s soft at the same time, love your processing here!
Haha...we both are missing that green thumb,..my plants have to look after themselves...it's just like I've moved to Chicago for 9 months of the year..or I feel guilty and drown them lol Love the drama of this shot :)
@kazlamont Glad to find your are in the same boat -- and others as well. Somehow looking at shots on this site, it looks like everyone is an amazing gardner, birder, naturalist, etc.!
