Tonight, Jim and I caught the El (subway) and then walked to the cinema to meet friends for a movie and dinner (date night!), taking us across the Chicago River. I had my camera of course, and had time to take one shot as we crossed the bridge. With no tripod, I had to balance my camera on the bridge ledge -- a little unnerving, but it worked. The brightly lit building is the Tribune, one of Chicago's many iconic architectural sites.

Thanks to all for views, comments, and favs that took my "City Sandwich" shot to TT this week. What an exciting way to end the week / start the weekend. You are such a supportive community!
Dang, that's lovely. I was always afraid to carry my gear around at night in cities where I was visiting especially my tripod, remote releases, and my DSLR. When I had temporary duty in Atlanta I would go but in strange cities I got mugged twice. Being in a wheelchair may me look easy. Well these days post 60 I am but not back then.
Wonderfully captured night scene, Taffy. Such sgpharpness. Like the tree in the front. Great comp and lighting. You're soooo good at gorgeous and interesting night shots! :)
@lightchaser I'm careful with my camera at night -- rarely ever am out there alone. It's just smart to be cautious when carrying expensive equipment in any city. Thanks for your kind words about the photo!
@stimuloog Thanks Marloes! I love night photography, which is fortunate since the days are now SO short and with work, I'm not out much during the day!
@archaeofrog Thanks Katie! The best 'find' was that there is a stable place to put the camera, as you walk onto the bridge at State Street, that's part of the ledge leading down to the river walk. It meant the vibrations were vastly reduced -- add it to your 'spots' for your next Chicago night visit!
Somehow I missed this one- but sure am glad I just noticed it! It's a fav for me with all those beautiful lights and the reflection on the river. The tree in the foreground almost looks like it's made of gold.
