Working today with a colleague whose condo is on the 34th floor in an area called Gold Coast. This is her view looking west (away from Lake Michigan) during a very wet, rainy, foggy, flooding rush hour. A shot from earlier in the day and the fog we're living under - http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2014-01-10
Many many many thanks for your support last week and comments/favs that took two of my photos to the top twenty. What a surprise when I found out today! I'm humbled but so happy.
This is an amazing view and give a real perspective on the vastness of the city. Incredible POV and lighting is amazing. Breathtaking...what a view! FAV congratulations ... so well deserved!!!
Great shot.
My daughter Alexis saw it and said "Look at all the gold!" so I think she got the message, given it;s the Gold Coast.
Really really nice shot. Like the tiny rain drops too.
You should be officially appointed THE best photog of Chicago!!! I would definitely vote for you!
PS I told you to create a separate, dedicated album to your city & architecture shots!
Awesome capture! Your friend is lucky to have such an outstanding view. The exif doesn't mention shutter speed - I'm wondering how long this took? Fave!
@timandelke Thanks so much Elke. It was an HDR created from three images, one each at 11, 13, and 15 seconds. When I create an HDR, I lose the information on the combined shutter speed.
You are off the scale good at these Taffy, this is brilliant. Congrats on your TT shot, good to keep you company. Fav for me here, sorry I've not kept up with you this week, as you know, I've been a little preoccupied.
A slightly different point of view than the 'stock' cityscape first got my attention. Then the golden tones I found interesting. Discovering the light trails enforced how busy the scene is. But a very interesting detail when studying the photo for a while is when I saw the small golden bokeh that I'm guessing was created by the fog/moisture/precipitation etc. That completed the story of the scene for me. Very nicely composed and executed. I've really enjoyed viewing.
@pamknowler Thanks Pam -- that's so sweet of you to say! It has been a good two days! I've been having a little trouble with inspiration as we started year two which is why I started the b&w and just dealing with our weather. So, it's felt really reinforcing to have my photos recognized this way. It always feels good of course, but sometimes even more than others!
Whoa...this is so awesome! I love the depth but what I love the most is the golden tones, which makes the photograph look all fancy to me. Also I saw your two top twenty photos and I was all like, "I know those photos!" haha. Congrats!!!!
Wow, that's a beautiful shot, and what a view!! Such clarity, and those golden tones..... I do recognize the building the foreground in the left....so familiar, but I cannot remember what it is....Sullivan, maybe?
congratulations on the TT my friend ... have fallen behind on commenting ... and been a while since I visited your amazing pics .. hope to rectify that :-)
