Just a few more NYC images to post from last week's wonderful trip. This was taken a week ago today, on @jyokota and my photo walk with @michaelelliott and @adamj. We were looking across the East River from the southern end of a park on the Brooklyn side. For this one I used HDR to combine three images. For Michael's perspective in B&W (can you tell how much he influenced me?), see http://365project.org/michaelelliott/more-365/2014-01-13
Still catching up and today's photos are just more of snow, snow, snow. We're getting another 4 - 6 inches today in Chicago. As I posted in a shot looking out from my office window -- http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2014-02-16 -- we're just SOOO tired of it!
FAV!! So beautiful, and so well done! Love the still water with the pier posts, and all the glittering lights in the buildings look like a stage backdrop!
Another FAV! You are the QUEEN of HDR. You know just how to tweak the layers to make the final effect magical. I can't believe how different my photos turned out -- nothing this special.
This needs to be viewed on large Taffy! Stunning shot and I recognise that spot from Michael's photo stream. Love how the pillars lead you through to that stunning cityscape.
@kcoda I'm glad to have helped Kathy! What I didn't write in the thread is how many times I made rules for myself and changed them, went on "365 diet" where I set timers so I could only be on the site for 30 minutes or 60 minutes, etc. And in the end, learned to just do my best and enjoy the site for what it is--a wonderful community of photographers who want nothing more than to support one another. No one judges you on this site, which is very special. It's all about learning from one another.
Wow, Taffy, this is gorgeous...I can't believe that I have turned around back to Brooklyn bridge less than 100m from this spot and missed this lovely foreground when I was there in July last year. But then again, I was there in daytime and the pictures would not have been this special. This is a BEAUTIFUL natural HDR piece of processing and a definite fav!
What an amazing shot, you should be really proud of all your city shots as they are wonderful and such a treat to see. Sorry to hear about more snow although I would rather snow than all the rain we have been getting, rain and photography just don't go well together!
Fantastic Taffy! Fav! of course. Hope I wasn't too bossy with my suggestions to move this way and that and all hahaha. But I just know these sites like the back of my hand. This came out awesome and a great compliment to my black and white shot. You rock NYC every time and I think you're realizing we got better photo ops then the Windy City hahaha though I know you're loyal. I'm definitely gonna hop a flight sometime to see for myself ;)
Fantastic- the still water, the lines of the posts and their reflections leading to the buildings, the lights, the soft tones of light reflected, the city lights
@michaelelliott Thanks Michael! I wanted to link to your photo but couldn't find it. Do you remember which album it is in and when you posted? I'll put the link in as it's fun and interesting I think to be able to compare. And yes, I owe you for the great NYC shots together -- you're a terrific coach!! I can't wait to return the favor here in Chicago where we have amazing scenes that rival NYC! :-))
@pflaume Thanks Lisa! I combined three photos, all at f/13, with shutter speeds of 15, 20, and 25 seconds, respectively. It was as just after the sun went down so it wasn't dark yet.
@michaelelliott@mara19500 Thanks Mara! I put the link in the commentary so that any other visitors won't miss it. Michael, your mom also recognized the spot from your photo as well. You're vision is famous! @yorkie
@taffy - haha Thx yes I was surprised she noticed. But I'm telling ya you rock the big apple every time. I'm back home now. Since it's not too bad in 40s I may got out shooting tonight.
@amandal That's the exact same area where we went for our photo walk. For this shot, Michael was telling me where he thought I should stand, in fact! He knows his city well! He also posted a b&w one from there. Glad you liked it and saw the connection to ME.
Coming very late to the party but...this is lovely. It caught my eye as I was scrolling through the last few images of all those whom I'm following. Hope you have a great weekend!
@jannyography@khawbecker@jgpittenger@julieco@pdulis Thank you all very much for the comments and the favs. It was SO fun to see Michael's shot today and have the photo of me taking the photo. Very special to remember a special photo walk!
you have set high standards for your shots ... but even by the lofty standards this one is special ...very special .. one of favest favs ... needs to be viewed large ... and Framed ... :-)
@friend2303 Thanks so much for the kind words, Vijay, on this and my other shots. This was is particularly special because Michael @michaelelliott photographed me taking it -- it doesn't get much better than that! I always appreciate your support!
This is such a fabulous shot, Taffy. I did not know you were getting together with ME. Wow, wish I could too. I loved NYC through his eyes and others that have visited. You can send some snow here or rain. We are in a drought still but rain is on its way two days this week. FAV
@taffy I am so envious and so glad you got to go. How nice that you have been there before. You are so lucky and got some great photos. Michael is a wonderful man and photographer. It is amazing what this site has given to so many of us. Friendships, seeing the world and traveling as many meet up at places they want to visit. Love it and wish I could spend more time with it. Sorry I am behind. I hope one day I can spend more time on here.
one more!
Maybe you mean this shot by Michael @michaelelliott http://365project.org/michaelelliott/more-365/2014-01-13
