I was looking at my NYC shots on a very wet and rainy day in Chicago. I had forgotten that I'd wanted to post it last week. The umbrella fits today's feeling (not only have we begun the 'melt' but rain rain rain on top of it), but the image is far better than anything I'll take tonight on my way home, in the dark, rain, and gloomy night! So I worked with it a bit today -- cropping, using Color Efex to soften the harsh light.
I love all that red...red roses, red coat, hat, umbrella, and card in her hand. she has a "hard to read" look on her face. Is she an actress coming out from a theater?
@luvmynynix Thanks Laurie! I think she knew, though she might have thought I was taking the marquee behind her. She was really sort of lost in thought which was what drew me to her. That and all the red.
@espyetta I don't know if she is an actress or there to see a show. She just fit her surroundings so well, she sort of stood out. I thought all the red was amazing -- glad you liked that part of it!
Great shot and processing. I love the dark/light contrast between the two sides. Excellent moody and natural portrait...not used to seeing portraits in your album...
@ericdibosco It is a different type of shot for me, but it was fun to do. I think I will start trying some newer things to push myself a bit. And, in NYC, it's impossible NOT to want to photograph street scenes!
@mzzhope@margb@anazad511@khrunner@bkbinthecity@pflaume Thanks Hope, Marg, Ana, Lisa, Kathleen, and BKB! If I lived in NYC, I think I'd get very into street photography. I'm guessing if I found the right spots, Chicago would be good as well, but somehow NYC seemed more magical and odd in terms of street scenes.
@taffy True...you have obviously seen Mara's spectacular street from NYC! It is something quite new for me, but a challenge that I feel I could come to enjoy quite a lot!
Great shot.
