We had a last minute invitation to the Blackhawks game tonight and of course I took my camera. The sun was setting while we waited to go in, reflecting off one of the skyscrapers from rooftop to its base. It was beautiful. I did my best to capture it, but really can't do it justice. Looking east down Monroe Street toward the city and the lake, from United Center.

@yaorenliu You're right about spot metering. I remember learning about it when there was the super moon last year and how easy it was to do. It makes such a difference in being able to get the focal object in the right light conditions!
@elaine55 They do: http://www.chicagophotoforum.org/Home.html
I went to the one tonight that was their monthly competition and it was really interesting, with three judges that were professional photographers. I'm hoping to go to one of their 'forums' when they talk about one another's digital work (open to print or digital that is). They do seem to emphasize print over digital.
@taffy I had a look and it must be a big club with their own studios and noticed that they meet once a week. Three judges is a lot but they you get a balance. They obviously enjoy their film work with having a dark room. I am sure you will get a lo out of it Taffy.
@elaine55 They actually have two dark rooms and they seem to emphasize film over digital. Even in the competition, they had small print b&w, large print b&w, small color, large color. But digital -- they dumped all together! I also don't see forums that are thematically framed (where you bring in work of a particular type). I'm going to give it a try for a few of the open forums and then, if there isn't more of a home for digital work, I'll have to try one further away. This one is SO convenient, and the people were really nice, but I'm not yet sure if it's the right one for me. Reading your and Daryl's experience, it seemed to me there are different types of clubs and finding the right fit is important. Thanks for checking out the site -- you confirmed some of my impressions.
@taffy Digital imagery is the "way of the world" now, I am not sure whether I would like that "purest" attitude but because you live so close I agree that you should give it a go There are aspects of our club that I am not too keen on, mainly the politics. I do occasionally go as a guest to a creative camera club as they seem to have some great presentations from Professional Photographers (we don't have any at the moment). Mark Kelly was the photographer at the last one, I thought you may like to check out his web site. He has now taken his photography further in making silk scarves from his work. I think they cost about Au$300 each. Here is his website http://www.mkimages.com.au/ I love the karijini exhibition
And congrats for making the top 20 for last week, well deserved.
I have been playing with spot metering as well!
Great capture.

Many thanks for your wonderful comments and especially the favs. It was quite an amazing site to see how golden the buildings had turned, so I'm glad that you could see that in my photo. I always am so grateful for your support!
