I'm saying "bye" to Chicago for all intent and purposes for the summer with this shot. Leaving tomorrow very early to catch my flight to Japan (very exciting), and then will head to Beaver Island for the summer on return next week. Thank you for your wonderful response to the opulent interior of the Oriental Theater -- very over the top sort of place and quite the reminder of the glory of movie theaters. I took this shot on my way to meet Jim for dinner, after my cup of tea with Sarah @pixiemac and Craig, walking down Wabash across the Chicago River (see tiny boat in center bottom). The Trump looms over that area, though of course, not this much.
I'll try to post each day while on the photo trip, but suspect commenting is going to be horribly erratic. My apologies in advance -- still packing now so no commenting tonight either! See you all regularly in about 11 days. All the best!
Have a wonderful time Taffy, can't wait to see your photos. I was there a few years ago so I will be looking for places I recognise.
Wonderful wide angle shot here and such a beautiful blue sky. Is part of the M actually missing on that building or just obscured?
Fabulous shot what a great group of buildingsTaffy. I didn't make Chicago when we visited America, seems like I missed something special. Have a great time in Japan. I look forward to seeing the images you'll bring back and no problem with commenting.
I'll miss your Chamber-of-Commerce Chicago Images (and the weather reports that often accompany them!) It'll be fun sharing a shift-to-summer photo opportunity for both of us. As you were 2nd in line at the top of my home page, I hope that means you're packed and ready to leave bright and early! If I turn my envy into packets of "Best Wishes" it means I'm sending *a lot*! Enjoy!
Fantastic wide angle shot Taffy! A fabulous farewell shot of your beautiful city! Safe journey I am so looking forward to seeing Japan through your eyes and lens!
@bella_ss Hi Sheralee -- thanks for the kind comment. The letters are all very clear in person. I think it was the angle I was taking it from that blurred out the rest of it.
How beautiful it is! Did you use a wide angle lens?
I hope you have fun in Japan! I have not been there for about 2 years. Look forward to seeing your photos!
Love how the buildings are leaning in..............I quess that would be a wide angle lens?

So amazing, Taffy. Wish I could take photos like this. I am so in awe of what you are able to do. Have a great time in Japan. Looking forward to seeing some of your photo. FAV
I'm scared of heights and although this is obviously taken from ground level the pov really does give me a slight feeling of vertigo. So appropriate how the Trump building over powers the scene. Superb capture. Have a great trip! We shall look forward to seeing your adventure through your lens.
Woohoo, progress on the Trump tower, there is now an M on there, last time we saw it, it was still the Tru tower.
Completely understand that lack of commenting, posting will be just fine :)
Lovely wide angle...I really like your perspective and viewpoint. Pity you could not get the very tip of the Trump in the frame, but then, of course, you would have lost the boats and the river....choices, choices, choices! Great clouds to round it off.

Japan will be an adventure! Looking forward to seeing it through your lens.
