This photo took some work to get it shaped up. Thanks Jane for your comments! This is from Japan (still have a few more to post to complete June), the spa/baths town of Kinosaki. The canal ran through the town and our hotel was next to it. Michael @vankrey & Junko @jyokota & and I went for a night walk to try to capture the full moon. While that attempt didn't work out, I quite liked the way this one eventually turned out.
This photo has a deliciously eery feel about it. There's a lot to see as the eye is drawn into the the shot, and the tantalising glimpse of the building on the right keeps the viewer intrigued.
Gorgeous image. WOnderful lighting and reflections. So much wonderful culture here. My son (the journalist) is in Viet Nam. I just got a email from him and he says it is FANtastic. Though it is very hot there right now. I think we would like to go there...but maybe in the winter when it is cooler. This is so lovely Taffy!
Nice Taffy! The willows simply glow with the help of the lanterns and your touch. It does make it feel very magical and romantic. The reflections willows and stone work really make this special. Was there a way to lift any of the shadows to see more of the bridge's details? I was going to post mine in b&w, but I'm not crazy about mine...I've linked your photo to my recent posts in Kinosaki, but I decided to do the surroundings rather than the canal itself.
My eye first saw the reflections and I wanted to linger on them as I love the way light plays on water but the perspective drew me in to the bridge. I'm glad it's in silhouette as it adds to the magical, mysterious feel of the whole image. Then the perspective drew me still further in. It was only then that I started to look at the sides. The detail on the wall is great, and there's a feeling of light and life beyond the trees. Wonderful, a fav
